First of all… YES, I went there and actually pulled up definitions from dictionary.reference.com because that’s just the kind of person I am, so scan over them and then I’ll continue.

I don’t like being labeled into any category but if I’m going to be I’d prefer quiet over shy any day of the week. It seems that the smallest things can rub me the wrong way at times hence the motivation to write this but I’m a sensitive person and fully aware of that fact. By definition, I would have to say that the only thing shy about me is that I’m distrustful. I imagine I will get over that in time but I’m not very open to new people because I’ve had family, friends, and lovers all do me dirty at one point or another and getting hurt just isn’t fun. As for being bashful and easily frightened… hell no… I have no problem talking to ANYONE when I feel like it 🙂
I realize that I’m not the most outgoing person in the world and I’m not trying to be, I like myself as I am. However, I have no issue speaking up when I need to… I simply prefer to sit back and observe others. When I think of a shy person, I picture kids that I see hide behind their parents when they don’t know someone. I also think of my childhood best friend’s older sister who would literally run to her room and hide when someone she didn’t know would visit the house. I’ll be damned if I’m going to go hide anywhere if someone is visiting MY house!
I’m a reserved person, I keep to myself a lot… don’t go out often… don’t do clubs, rarely go to parties… I only sing in the shower or the car aside from the brave moments I decide to get in front of my webcam out of sheer boredom… and I only dance when I think no one is watching. Nevertheless, I do not think that makes shy, I know people who can make a friend anytime anywhere (social butterflies) who won’t sing or dance in public either. I suppose my main point is that I don’t have a problem talking to anyone, often times I just don’t feel like it… plain and simple. I don’t know too many shy people who get hired on at a Fortune 50 company to directly manage an average of 25 people (which I did by the way) so… quiet maybe… and I’ll admit a pinch antisocial sometimes but shy… I think not…
